A dashboard is not one KPI, it is a set. Copying ten measures one by one is slow, and a set your team cannot see is a set nobody agrees on. My KPI set solves both.
Star the KPIs you need
Click the star on any card, or Add to my set on an open KPI. The star turns gold and the counter on My KPI set, in the bar at the top, goes up. You can star KPIs from any area: a management dashboard often mixes sales, finance and customer KPIs.
Your set is kept in your browser, so it is still there tomorrow.
Open your set
Click My KPI set at the top. The list shows every KPI in the set, in the order you starred them, with its area. Click a name to open it, or the cross to remove it. Clear empties the whole set; the message that follows has Undo in case you did not mean it.
Copy every measure at once
Copy all DAX copies every measure in the set, each with a comment line that names the KPI and says what it is. Keep the text open beside Power BI and add the measures one after another with New measure: the comments show where each one starts. Rename the example tables and columns as you go, as in lesson 4.
Download the SQL or a spreadsheet
SQL downloads every query in one file, each headed by a comment. Spreadsheet (CSV) downloads one row per KPI: name, area, other names, definition, formula, unit, direction, how often, benchmark, best chart, other charts and the data it needs. It opens straight in Excel or Google Sheets and makes a good KPI register.
Download a spec document
Spec document downloads a Markdown file with a section per KPI: the definition, why it matters, the formula, a table of unit, direction, rhythm and benchmark, the ranked charts, the mistakes, and all three code versions.
Paste it into Confluence, Notion, a GitHub wiki or a pull request. It is the page your team signs off before anyone builds, so the numbers mean the same thing to everyone.
Share the set as a link
Share link copies an address that holds the whole set. When a colleague opens it, the KPIs are added to their own set, and they can export it the same way. Nothing is uploaded: the set travels inside the link itself.
The last lesson turns a set into a dashboard page.
