One good character is worth keeping. Character Prompt Builder keeps them in your browser, lets you send one to someone else, and moves them between devices as a file, all without an account.
Save to your library
On the result step, click Save to My characters. Or open My characters on the left and click Save current character. A ready-made character keeps its own name, such as "Anthro Detective", as long as the character itself is unchanged (a new scene or camera keeps it). Anything else is named from what you built, such as "34-year-old man" or "Towering battle mecha".
Your library
My characters lists everything you saved, with the kind of character and the date. Each has four buttons:
- Load puts the character back in the builder, ready for a new scene.
- Duplicate makes a copy, so you can try a variation without losing the original.
- Rename gives it a name you will recognise.
- Delete removes it, after asking.
Share a character as a link
Copy share link puts the whole character into a link. Whoever opens it gets your character in their builder, with every answer. Nothing is stored on a server: the character is inside the link itself. Once opened, the link's data is removed from the address bar, so a refresh does not import it twice.
Move characters with a file
Download character.json saves the character, its answers and all four prompts in one file. On another device, or in another browser, open the builder's result step and use Import character.json to bring it back.
The file is also your backup. The library lives in this browser only, so clearing your browser data removes it, and a private window forgets it once you close the window. When the browser does not save at all (its storage is blocked or full), Character Prompt Builder says "This browser is not saving", and the download is the way to keep your work.
