A blank form is the slowest way to start. Character Prompt Builder has 99 ready-made characters, each a complete set of answers, so you can begin with something close to what you want and change only what is different.
Open Ready-made
Open Character Prompt Builder and click Ready-made on the left. Every character is a card with its name, its kind, its art style and one line about it.
Filter by kind and style
On the left, under Kinds, each kind has its own page with its count: Animals, Animated, Anthro (animals that stand and dress like people), Creatures, Fantasy, People and Robots. Ready-made shows all 99.
Pick a kind and a row of art styles appears above the grid, All first, each with how many characters it holds: Photorealistic, Cinematic film still, Pixar-style 3D, Anime, Claymation still, Watercolour and the rest. The row only offers styles that kind has, so a filter never leaves you with an empty grid. Press a style again to clear it.
On the right, the sort menu orders the grid by Featured, Name A to Z, Name Z to A or Art style, and S, M and L set the picture size. The kind, the style and the sort are kept in the address, so a link you share opens the same view.
Look at one up close
Click a card. The character opens large: its picture on the left, and on the right its kind and art style, what it is, and the Image prompt the picture was made from, with Copy prompt. The round buttons beside the picture, or the arrow keys, step to the characters next to it in the grid; Esc closes it.
Pick one
Press Use this character. The builder opens on step 1 with every question answered: the kind, the face, the outfit, the place, the light, the camera and even the motion for a video prompt. The Live prompt on the right is already complete, with the character's picture and name at its top, and the result step shows them too. They stay while you change the scene or the camera, and go once you change the character itself, because then it is your own.
From here it is your character. Change the hair, swap the location, pick another art style: the prompt rewrites itself as you go. Nothing about the ready-made one is fixed.
Step 1 of the builder also shows one character of each kind under Start from a ready-made character, with See all 99 to open the whole set, so you can start without leaving the builder.
Good ways to use them
- Same character, new style. Pick a character you like and change only Art style. The 3D-rendered astronaut becomes a claymation astronaut with the same face, suit and story.
- Same style, your character. Pick a character in the style you want, then change the kind and the face. The camera, light and finish stay as they are, which is often the hard part.
- A character sheet. Pick any character and set Art style to Character sheet. The prompt asks for a concept sheet with several views of the character, the best reference you can give an image model for later pictures.
- A video in one go. Every ready-made character has its motion answered too, so Copy video prompt works straight away in Veo 3 or Sora.
Keep what you made
When you have changed a ready-made character into your own, save it to My characters so you can load it again or share it as a link. The lessons on keeping a character consistent and on saving characters show how.
